Shoji Screens

Sometimes, I get to create architectural pieces versus furniture. These shoji screens are in our home and they are the doors into our office from the sunroom. They are made from poplar and the two outside doors are fixed in place, while the two center doors slide to the sides and cover the fixed pieces. The screen material is actually a fiberglass material, translucent and with nice “feel” to them, rather than the traditional rice paper which is fragile and easily punctured or torn – not the best idea when kids interact with them. The door handles are made from ebony and walnut.
